Studio Logo Music

Many major and minor film studios have had a long string of logos. Many feature fanfares/jingles composed by film composers. Here are some of the logos of past and present.

Max Steiner composed the Warner Bros. fanfare, first seen in 1937.

Alfred Newman composed the famous 20th Century Fox fanfare, first seen in 1935 and still in use. 

James Horner composed the sweeping Universal fanfare, first seen in 1990. Jerry Goldsmith's ever-present Universal fanfare ran from 1997-2012. Brian Tyler's 2012 arrangement of the Goldsmith fanfare is still in use. 

Michael Giacchino composed the first prominent fanfare for Paramount in 2011.

Alfred Newman composed the Selznick International Pictures fanfare, first seen in 1937.

John Williams composed the fanfare for The Ladd Company, first seen around 1980.

Jerry Goldsmith composed this short ditty for Carolco Pictures, used in the 1980s.

Marc Shaiman composed the logo for Castle Rock Entertainment in 1989, featuring the piano and horn motif. 

James Horner wrote the "Cimarron" version of the THX logo used from 1988-2000.

Dave Grusin composed the short opening for Tristar Pictures, which was used from 1984-1993.

Danny Elfman composed the short fanfare for the Hollywood Pictures logo, first seen in 1990.

Morgan Creek Productions used a bit of Michael Kamen’s score to Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) as their logo.

Michael Kamen wrote the short logo music for Silver Pictures in 1991. An alternate logo with music by Alan Silvestri was also used. 

Regency Pictures International used a bit of Danny Elfman’s score to Sommersby (1993) as their logo.

Michael Kamen composed the fanfare for New Line Cinema, which first appeared in 1994.

Brad Fiedel composed the fanfare for Lightstorm Entertainment, first seen in 1994.

Hans Zimmer composed the fanfare to 1492 Pictures, first seen in 1995.

John Ottman composed the short fanfare for Phoenix Pictures, composed around 1995. 

John Williams wrote the music to the DreamWorks Pictures logo, which premiered in 1997.

DreamWorks Animation used a bit of Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell's Shrek (2001), first seen in 2004. 

Mark Mancina arranged "When You Wish Upon A Star" for the Disney logo, first seen in 2006.

James Newton Howard composed the lively jazz music for Sony Pictures Animation in 2006 and used until 2011.

Alexandre Desplat composed the jingly jingle for Studio Canal in 2011.

Brian Tyler composed the heroic fanfare for Marvel Studios (2013-2016) and Michael Giacchino composed the next fanfare (2016-)

  3. I guess when Michael Giacchino composed the Paramount Pictures logo with this 100th Anniversary and was first seen in 2012.
